What do I need to do before my scan?

A few simple steps make a real difference to your results.

Stay well hydrated — drink plenty of water in the 24 hours before your scan and avoid caffeine for at least two hours beforehand.

Wear smooth, close-fitting underwear with no patterns or loose-fitting styles, as these can affect imaging.

Make sure your health questionnaire and family history are completed in your Neko account before you arrive. This helps your doctor give you the most relevant, personalised insights on the day.

Can I have my scan if I've recently had eye surgery?

Scans may not be suitable soon after eye surgery. If you've had eye surgery within the past 4 weeks, please contact our Customer Care team at support@nekohealth.com to rearrange your appointment.

What time should I arrive for my appointment?

Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment — it gives you time to check in and get the most from your visit. If you arrive more than 5 minutes after your appointment start time, we won't be able to complete your full scan, so we'll reschedule you free of charge to make sure you get the full experience.

Can I still have my scan if I'm not feeling well?

If you're experiencing any of the following symptoms, we kindly ask that you reschedule your appointment. We'll do this free of charge:

Fever over 38°C

Vomiting or diarrhoea within 48 hours before your scan

Any other acute symptoms that could indicate illness

Can I leave my contacts in during the scan?

Soft contact lenses are fine. Hard lenses need to come out before your scan, as they can affect the accuracy of your eye pressure reading. Glasses are fine to wear — you may be asked to remove them briefly for certain tests.

Can I wear jewellery during my scan?

Please remove all jewellery before your scan to ensure accurate results. To make things easier, we recommend leaving valuable jewellery at home. If you do bring valuables, please note they are left at your own risk.

Yes — but some make-up may cover skin, especially on your face, that we may need to examine during your appointment. If that's the case, we might ask you to remove some make-up so we can complete the assessment accurately. A minimal approach on scan day is always a safe bet.

Children under 18 aren't able to enter the scan rooms or be left unattended at any point in the clinic. If you're planning to bring a child, please arrange for someone to stay with them in the waiting area. What happens after my scan?

Your doctor reviews your results and prepares a personalised action plan. This will be sent to you the same day as your appointment and you can view it by logging in to your account.

If anything needs further attention, you'll be given clear next steps — either a follow-up appointment at one of our clinics, at no extra charge, or a referral to an external specialist if needed.

Once your results have been reviewed, one of two things will happen. If no further action is needed, we'll let you know. If we'd like to take a closer look, you'll be invited for a follow-up appointment at one of our clinics at no extra cost. In some cases, you may also be referred to an external specialist. Either way, you'll hear from us with clear guidance on what happens next.
