Neko Health Opens in Manchester

Fuelled by extraordinary demand, Neko Health marks its one-year anniversary in the UK by making its much-anticipated debut in Northern England through the opening of a Neko Health Centre in Manchester, set to deliver up to 20,000 Body Scans annually—making high-tech, preventive healthcare more accessible than ever.

  • Manchester becomes the next home for cutting-edge health innovation—with Neko Health’s newest Health Centre now open.

  • Perfectly positioned on Brazennose Street, just moments from the iconic Town Hall.

Manchester, UK – September 10th, 2025 – Neko Health, the preventive healthcare technology company co-founded by Hjalmar Nilsonne and Daniel Ek, announces the expansion to Northern England and opening of a Health Centre in Manchester today. Neko Health has been expanding rapidly and is now taking significant steps to grow regionally — this latest opening comes less than a year after the company’s UK launch. It’s located in The Lincoln on Brazennose Street and will have the capacity to serve up to 20,000 people annually.

Neko Health offers a unique, non-invasive Body Scan that costs £299 and maps millions of health data points on the body - both inside and out - in just a few minutes. The comprehensive health check includes assessing moles and marks across the body, symptoms of metabolic syndrome and risk factors for stroke and heart attack, along with blood sugar levels to assess pre-diabetes risk. Additionally, it checks for skin cancer and blood abnormalities. Immediately following the scan, members receive full results as part of an in person doctor-led consultation. The whole experience is complete in just under an hour.

In most healthcare systems, doctors only get involved once symptoms appear and a patient seeks help, by which time a condition may already have progressed. That’s why early detection is often the exception rather than the norm. Shifting the focus to prevention through annual check-ups, before health begins to decline, increases the chances of successful treatment and can lead to less suffering and fewer complications. It can also help reduce healthcare spending, since 75 to 80 percent of costs are related to chronic diseases — many of which are preventable if caught early.

Hjalmar Nilsonne, CEO and Co-Founder of Neko Health, said:

“When we launched Neko Health, sceptics claimed preventive health was a niche interest with limited appeal outside of London. But the early response to our opening in Manchester has already proven them wrong. We’re proud to bring a new kind of preventive care to one of the UK’s most dynamic cities, helping the local community here detect issues early so they can live longer, healthier lives.”

Dr Sam Rodgers, Lead GP & Medical Quality Lead at Neko Health, said:

“Manchester is a city of innovation, with a rich healthcare legacy and progressive spirit, which offers the perfect environment for Neko Health to continue reshaping how people think about their health. Having worked for many years at the intersection of consumer needs and the healthcare system, I know people have been longing for faster, more proactive, and more accessible ways to stay healthy. With strong demand from the North of England, the city marks an important step in Neko Health’s mission to bring preventive healthcare closer to where people live and work.”

Even before launching in Manchester, Neko Health had already seen several thousand people sign up to the waiting list to try the service in the city. Nearly 80% of those who come in for a scan choose to rebook and prepay for the following year.

Neko Health Facts:

In its second year of operation in Stockholm in 2024, the company scanned 4,362 people:

  • However, 18.7% required medical treatment. Among them, 1.2% received potentially life-saving care for severe conditions such as cardiovascular disease, serious metabolic disorders, and skin cancer. The age range of those receiving life-saving treatment was 28 to 81 years. Notably, 73% were men and 27% were women.
